This recording os one of the reasons I love CDBaby. It's so high quality that you wonder why a major label hasn't snapped him up yet. Luckily, he's right where he should be, right here on CDBaby. Lance has an all-around beautiful, yet distinct and versatile sound and style, reminiscent of some of the best fusion sax players I like, such as Michael Brecker (who, sadly, just passed away). This beautiful CD is one of those albums that I know will remain in my CD changer. It's perfect for relaxing at the end of the day or putting in the background while cooking. I can think of many uses for this album, such as background music for work, while driving or even an upscale nightclub when a live group isn't playing. I only have two criticisms: I want to know what he looks like (who is Lance? I guess I'll have to buy another one of his CDs to find out, or look at his site—his pic isn't in the liner) and I really want to hear him play live. Maybe I'll get to hear him gigging in NYC. This is a fantastic album: don't pass it up.

This CD is great listening music, it's real Jazz with attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very nice to enjoy with friends or as wonderful background music to enjoy with intimate dinners and more, for two. This CD Makes Us Happy.

This upbeat collection of songs is really a treat to listen to. "The Things that Make Us Happy" is a polished recording with some superb solo work by Lance Koonah, who sounds great.
