Southern California pop-punk (and rock/punk in general) have thoroughly meshed with ska, reggae, and so much more, but this could be one of the first times that they are colliding with salsa and jazz, a natural and inevitable next step in their evolution.

Album Notes

Kopi Kopenhagen was a young skateboarder at the time of Kobain`s death, and he was pushed along into the world of punk rock soon thereafter. NEVERMIND was replaced in his CD collection with Bad Religion, NOFX, Minor Threat; the whole lot of them. Little did Kopi know that his growing up in latin Florida would some day give him such an angle on music as to be "the godfather" of world music punk rock.

Whereas Kopi Kopenhagen had played in many bands before, including REVERE (www.myspace.com/reverefla), none of these USA/"white boy"/punk-rock bands had ever flirted with the Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, and otherwise "latin genres" that had infultrated Florida and NY (to name only a couple) since the early 1900s! It took him 3 years living in Japan to realize what a delight these genres are to play, and loving punk rock, he naturally began to blend them and forever seal his name as the "godfather of world-music punk rock" (Some Drunk Guy). NOFX meets Tito Puente? Blink 182 meets Celia Cruz? Is this possible? What? You don`t even know any salsa artists? Kopi Kopenhagen thinks that is a shame, and he is hear to push latin music more into the lime-light than Gloria Estefan, via the punk beat of course. You must hear "Ashita Manana; Um Extrangeiro no Japao" for yourself. 80s hair band solos meet latin dance rhythms. That infamous punk beat breaks down into conga and cowbell bridges. It is a must hear! Sung in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese, this CD is a world music CD to say the least.
