Bio :Tony Koretz is a musician,singer , songwriter and audio engineer , based in New Zealand, with a flair for writing and performing guitar-based melodic rock. Since beginning playing piano at age 10, guitar at age 16 years,he has had to a love of performing in bands and solo, and the recording of his self-penned music. A few years later, learning the craft of audio engineering has meant he has an involvement in all aspects of music production,from writing to recording, mixing and mastering .His own brand of music isheavily influenced by such classic rockers as Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Phil Keaggy:His guitar playing style is somewhat a mix of all these.Other guitarists he particularly admires include Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen and Rex Carrol and Kerry Livgren.Tony has also concentrated heavily in recent years on his vocals and has developed a good range and a powerful style. His latest offering (due for release early August 2004)is a self-produced CD titled 'Kicking Cans',a collection of 12 songs that are characterized by sweet acoustic guitars and dirty sounding electric guitars,that create a sense of dynamics in the music.Keyboard duties shared between Tony and Matt Schmitt,Cameo backing vocals performances by brothers Simon and Marcel and drums and saxophone courtesy of Nathan give this album it's flavour.It was recorded over a two year period, at Rocksure Soundz studio.
Recording was begun on this the follow up album to "Destiny" in January 2002,with some rhythm tracks being laid dow over a couple of hot New Zealand summer days,between time spent at the beach."If Your Love was a River" ,"the Tears " and "I Belong" were came from those early sessions.At that stage really no idea of a time frame for completion of the album had been set ,and gradually extra tracks were added .A couple more years past with some difficulties and huge personal disappointments,heartaches and heartbreaks ,and these gave rise to songs like "And the Wind Blows" and "Hope against Hope".Finally determination to get back up and go on stronger than ever,while trusting in God for strength, led to the penning of "Porch Rocke
