Album Notes

Motoshi started his musical training on the piano and then the guitar. In 1997 he moved to the United States and soon after started playing the harp. Mr. Kosako had been playing the harp for only 3 years before recording this CD.
He is now the principal harpist at Stockton Symphony Orchestra and was the featured soloist for the Mozart’s Flute & Harp Concerto in the 2009-2010 season. In 2007 he won the second place in Lyon & Healy International Jazz & Pop Harp Competition and received the “Best of Sacramento” award from Sacramento Magazine: “Kosako plays with fluid, modern style that evokes Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea.”
He is considered as the most influential Jazz harpist in Japan. In 2010 he started intimate collaboration with Paul McCandless (2 Grammy Award Winner, Oboe, English Horn Soprano sax, bass Clarinet Player) and released the duo album “Place in the Heart” from MAKK RECORDS INTERNATIONAL, that is distributed by KING INTERNATIONAL in Japan.

REVIEWS

Brilliant and inspiring

The music rendered by Motoshi on this CD exudes brilliance. The pieces showcased include a wise choice of many familiar classical pieces, which will appeal to many. To reach this level of proficiency in only three years is certainly no mean feat! The quality of sound recording could be improved though, given that the true harp sound is quite difficult to record in its fulness and fidelity, without any distortion.
