Hear the sound of the koto change from the rolling sea to dragon wings as Falconer takes listeners on journeys from magical castles below the ocean to flights high above the earth. Award-winning artist Elizabeth Falconer shares stories from Japan in her second release of musical adventures that combine storytelling and koto music in a unique and entertaining album. Filled with imaginative imagery and fun advetures, this recording received a 2001 Parent's Choice Silver Honor Award and a 2003 Storytelling World Award.
Falconer resided in Japan for 12 years studying koto, earning a master's license from the Sawai Koto School. She had the idea of combining stories with koto as she read to her two young sons, and has gained a national reputation as a storyteller and musician. She now performs her original "Koto Tales" programs often in schools, libraries and festivals in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
