Album Notes

THE BAND FROM AUSTIN
The influence of the Austin musical culture and heritage permeates every tune on When the Rain Comes Down. The "live" vibe is present in the sound of the artists from the "Live Music Capital of the World". Only more present is the influence of their faith, which shows powerfully on every song. The duo's diverse taste and influence is also center-stage, with musical elements running from blues and roots rock and roll, to modern rock, fusion, and even a little bit of country twang.

SONGWRITING
KRASH JONES songwriting skills are at the forefront of their music. Josh's foundational musical elements shine through, laying the groundwork for passionate and personal lyrics, honest reflections of life.

From the fun and slightly sarcastic snap of "What I Need is Your Peace", through the poetry of "Faithful Friend" and "Not Just You", to the delicate encouragement of "Little One", and culminating with the street-evangelist impact of "The Way", the heart and color of the songwriter are worn on his sleeve. Nathan's lyric augments the searing "Plaguing My Dreams", and the two cover tunes mark the endpoints of the album's musical journey from real life to real faith.

NATHAN BROWN: vocalist
Originally from Birmingham Alabama, Nathan moved to Austin as a child and has been hooked on music ever since. From early childhood Nathan has sought the stage and expressed his passion to sing. Growing up at home was a musical experience for Nathan, with his father a master fingerstyle guitarist and bass player, and his mother a concert pianist, he was constantly surrounded by music. Nathan's varied musical experience includes a host of Christian rock groups and worship bands, including leading worship services around Austin at several churches.

Nathan's influences are varied and include Glen Miller, Bing Crosby, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dave Matthews Band, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Creed, U2, Delerious, Garth Brooks and many others.

JOSH KARNES: the rest
Also having moved to Austin as a child, Josh is originally from Jonesboro, Arkansas. Josh's addiction for music began at a very young age, and finally after moving to Austin, he found himself in an environment conducive to his musical growth. Josh began as a percussionist and quickly began his love affair with the guitar at age 11. Josh stretched out musically, first a concert percussionist, then jazz and rock drummer, bassist, keyboardist and vocalist, not to mention his primary focus of guitar, where he moves from Celtic fingerstyle, through jazz, to rock, fusion, blues and even a bit of country and bluegrass. Josh's real home was found in the studio, where he cut his teeth with his first four-track when he was 13.

Josh's influences are diverse, and include the Beatles, Little Feat, Robben Ford, U2, John Scofield, the Choir, the Violet Burning, Miles Davis, CCR, the 77s, and hundreds of others.

TRUMAN YOUNG: drummer for a day
Young drummer Truman Young joins KRASH JONES for "No Everything" and "The Way". Truman brings a decidedly different rhythmic feel and influence to these tunes, and enabled Josh to track bass and drums at the same time, lending to the "live" feel of the tunes.

Great Music With A Message

I purchased this CD because I knew what recording console was used and wanted to hear how it sounded. Also because I am influenced at a player by the same artists. Thirdly because it's a positive message. All of these reasons were fulfilled once I listened to the album. Seldom do you have Christian based music that has a guitar featured in it and very seldom is the guitar work really really good when it is. I am really glad I have the album!!
