Kriktor gives space to the smallest sounds in a tense dissection of harmony and rhythm. It's stubborn, but also extremely indecisive. It's music made simple – perhaps even stupid. It's quite possibly like nothing you've ever heard.
Bjärta Färger is the first release from wood and electronics trio Kriktor. Here they explore their trademark close-up miking and time shifts, in a dark and outright digital 38-minute experience. All music is improvised, from the almost obsessively systematic Ögon Blå to the hit-and-run outburst called Rancorn.
Kriktor is a trio, or a sextet if you count the electronics. They do slow, systematic explorations of sound, often leaning towards the monotonic and chaotic. Their playing is heavily affected by the electronics - controllable by each musician - which through simple means are challenging the traditional roles of the instruments. The output is often as much of a surprise for themselves as for the listeners.
