Album Notes

-->Featuring original works that been honored by ASCAP and the International Songwriting Competition, Kris Becker's hard-hitting and beautiful debut volume as composer/performer is new music from a new kind of artist.

"Kris's songwriting and creative artistry goes to another level.  He peels back the first and second layers to express depth with lyrics and with musical themes.  He's able to wrap them all in a great variety of musical genres."
-Wayne Watson, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter

--->Kris with a K: Compositional power with piano skills that make Becker a modern-day Rachmaninoff, jazz-influenced concepts, and intense keyboard-driven rock. NU-CLASSICAL/JAZZ/ROCK

"Kris is a virtuoso. I am especially impressed with his own compositions."
-Bob Katz, Grammy award-winning mastering engineer and founder of Digital Domain

KRIS BECKER (Kris with a K) is undefinable. His fervent expressions through original rock, jazz, and nu-classical works flow from the eclecticism that colors his own personhood. He is a serious classical pianist who has played Carnegie Hall and he is a touring rock keyboardist who hauls his own gear into the grassroots clubs of America. He grew up for eighteen years in a rural Northern town of 2,000 then became citizen of a Southern metropolis of millions. He has spent summers working for the family horse business and others pursuing artistic greatness in the capitals of Europe. He has scored top prizes in over 15 international performing and composing competitions and earned high degrees with highest honors from America's best conservatories, and elsewhere has been told that he has nothing valuable to say as a musician. He has been on the verge of leaving music behind for good and he's been so dedicated to it that his astronomical sacrifice of sleep once landed him a near-death experience in a foreign hospital.

Composer, lyricist, arranger, producer, and performer of what you hear here, Kris Becker is an inventor of music. Kris' earnest desire to say something valuable to as widespread an audience as possible with as much craft and visceral enjoyability as possible—this defines his artistry. And it defines his Inventions.

"There are many brilliant performers these days; however, very rarely the intellectual and brilliant young composer can be found. Then, I believe that these few young composers must not only have a wonderful musical sense but have a strong spiritual inspiration as well. The young American Kris Becker is such a pianist, and composer." -Borah Kang, concert pianist

Kris Becker and his debut album, “Inventions,” is an exquisite collection of finely crafted compositions featuring the genres of Rock, Jazz, and Classical. Becker creates an album that is rich in musical style and shows his superb versatility in performing a collective mix of music. He is brilliant on the piano and this album is proof of his amazing talents. The first two tracks, “Feel The Truth” and “Try” groove with a solid foundation as these songs dive right into the Rock mode with terrific melodies and charming rhythms. Tracks 3 and 4, “In Due Time” and “If Ever Two Were One (Alt. Take)” offer some spectacular Jazz with crisp and bright horns that playfully cascade around the bright and colorful piano and soulful vocals that captures the essence of the sweet lyrics. Becker then takes you into his classical skills with dexterity and intense precision. “Fanfare For Life” will astonish you as Becker plays his original Classical piece with a rich musical complexity. Becker’s Classical compositions are elegant and bursting with passion and rich embellishments as he performs with strong and strict timing and these compositions should be regarded as among the best. If you are a person who enjoys an album with a marvelous blend of Rock, Jazz, and Classical, then the distinctive album “Inventions,” is just what you need to listen to.
