Kris McLonis, urban/modern folk singer/songwriter based in Detroit, Michigan, has been involved in musical pursuits since her elementary school days. She began playing out at open mics in 1997 and has been gigging at various coffeehouses and events ever since, including the Ferndale Art Fair in 1997 and 2003 and the West Bloomfield Art Fair in 2004.
From 1998 to 2001, Kris hosted an open mic at Mudee Waters coffeehouse in Berkley, Michigan. In 2002 and 2003 she performed for various programs at the Green House in Ferndale.
Kris has appeared on the cable shows "Songwriters Open Mic at Oz's Music" (based in Ann Arbor); "Krystal's Motor Town Cafe" and "Crazy Mark TV" (both based in Dearborn); and "Erica's Tyme" (based in Troy).
In 1985 Kris wrote and performed backup vocals for the John Sase album "Aessence". In 1997 she recorded backup vocals for two tracks of the John Finan CD "Observations & Complaints" (released in 1998). In 1998 she recorded an original track, "Beethoven's Ninth Symphony", for the compilation CD "Live at the Cadieux Cafe".
Kris released "Labyrinth", her first CD, in 2002. It includes "totally McLonis" originals and joint efforts with lyricist David Moody. The CD offers a mixture of serious introspection and encouragement, humorous looks at life in the workplace, an ode to a certain coffeehouse leftover, and a TV theme song to boot!
