Album Notes

Kristin is so excited about his debut CD, he can hardly believe it. “ I’ve played bass on and/or produced other peoples projects, and it feels great to be able to finally express myself! “

Here is his description of the style of music on his CD. “ I call it straight ahead honest rock. It’s kind of like Stone Temple Pilots meets The Black Crowes with a 70’s raw slice of Humble Pie. I recorded it mostly with just a couple of tube condenser mics, and vintage tube amps. It’s definitely a tribute to the classic rock days of recording and I love it! “

The Bio: Kristin started singing and performing at a young age along with his mothers’ piano accompaniment. “ Yeah, my mom had me singing Disney tunes and Christmas carols at churches and parties when I was a toddler. She also taught me not to get nervous till after the show. I still get a little anxious before a gig, but afterwards I’m almost a wreck. “

In the fifth grade, he needed to make a choice of band instruments that would shape the future for him. “ So there I am, standing in a music store in Richmond Virginia, and Mr. Burley is trying to convince me to play a more melodic instrument like the trombone. I wanted to play the drums so bad, but I trusted him, and I’m glad now that I was able to learn the bass clef. “

In the ninth grade, he was introduced to an instrument that would change his life in a most positive way. “ My friend Kevin Brackett had his buddy’s bass, and he showed me how to play some Led Zeppelin riffs on it. I took it home for the weekend and was blown away at what this big guitar could do. I started playing along to Zep and The Who records and couldn’t believe it. I finally found something I was pretty good at. “

He received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, and was on his way to Boston to further study the art of bass playing. “ I loved the atmosphere and there were so many talented and cool students there. However, I felt like I was in math and science class. To me, music comes from the soul and is emotional, not just a calculated equation. So, I took my mid terms and split. Of course my girlfriend breaking up with me over the phone 1,000 miles away didn’t really help my unhappiness at the time either. “

With a little bit of attitude, and a lot of drive, he dove head first into taking gigs that provided him the opportunity to travel. “ I love performing on the road and meeting all kinds of people. I enjoy picking up peoples accents, and learning a little history of the area. One time at a diner in Minnesota, I was practicing our waitress’s accent and she must have thought I was making fun of her. She ‘accidentally’ dropped my food on me. Oh, jeez dere must have slipped. “

Now Kristin is enthusiastic about performing his original material. “ I have always been that bass player guy that hangs back with the drummer and sings every once in awhile. But now I get to sing my own songs my way. It’s kinda scary puttin’ your heart on your sleeve and being so open, but it’s also very liberating. “

I could list some great bands that Kristen sounds like. However, it would not do justice to his sound. He is not a poser. He is the real deal. A REAL musician that knows his sh*t and without the attitude most music men have. Listen to the music and it is clear that he has CONFIDENCE, POISE and most important TALENT. I guess when you create art that is this good, there is no need to be cocky, THE MUSIC SPEAKS FOR ITSELF>GIVE IT A LISTEN. YOU WILL be blown away by the sounds and lyrics.

lovin the groovy bass tones - lots of girth with sound that surrounds you complemented by edgy, souful vocals and solid rock riffs. Deeply appreciate the vintage tube amp recording. Thanks for keeping that particular brand of grit and groove alive. Love all I got to hear, can't wait to pick up my copy at Hastings on 7/21 or 7/22 and experience the live show! absolutely dig the 7-string ethereal bass grooves. Can I get hours of that too? It sounds like my own personal headspace soundtrack. Keep rockin' Kristin - from a digger of dirt, rocks, and Rock n' Roll.
