Kriztina is born and raised in Sweden. Her dad was a saw mill worker and her mom worked at the post office. Both in the small fishing village Stocka, where they lived. The interest in music came early, as the parents usually gave Kriztina toy instruments at Christmas and birthdays. And at family gatherings the Swedish traditional folk music always had a place. At the age of six, she went to Sunday school, and continued until the age of twelve. There the children got to sing a lot of songs, and at the end of each term they performed before an audience consisting of friends, family and parishioners. And Kriztina enjoyed singing and performing. But the interest in music could have ended when she in public school’s music class in fourth grade ‘had to’ start playing the accordion. But after one school year of struggling, the accordion teacher quit, and - fortunate enough - the new music teacher asked Kriztina if she wouldn’t want to try playing the guitar instead. She said yes. Her mom’s old guitar was good enough for the purpose, but at Kriztina’s thirteenth birthday she was given a new guitar by her parents. That guitar and music became her closest and only friends, as she in fifth grade was abused and frozen out by her class mates after a new boy had moved to the village. Kriztina spent all her spare time in her room; reading books, singing, playing, writing songs and listening to music. Preferably country music, because that was the music her father had listened to all of her life, and she had come to love it too. One day the music teacher came up with the idea that Kriztina could sing a song at the last day of school before summer, when there was a show. After singing there, those who used to harass her became friendlier to her. And after that day, she started to sing at smaller venues, but it took many years until she had gained confidence to do a recording of some of her songs. The result is Kriztinacountry.

Great debut-CD!
author: Kjell Horlin
There's lots of country-CD's passing thru my ears each month and not all of them are what I call pure country music.
Here we have a CD from the very talented swedish girl singer Kriztina Åhs and this is exactly what I call pure country made from the heart!
All songs written by Kriztina and the opening track 'Singing My Blues Away' is a real country shuffle, very great and the following tracks are all very good with perfect backing by the great band.
Kriztina Åhs have a voice and singing style as made for country music and we have not heard the last of her, I am sure about that!
Give yourself a treat...grab a copy while it's still out there.
