Album Notes

The “Crockett Chronicles” is the second in the “Fathers of Texas” series. Written by well-known singer/songwriter/historian, K.R. Wood, “Crockett Chronicles” is a narrative and musical expression of the life and times of David Crockett. Beginning with his birth in Tennessee, his rise in popularity in politics, and beyond his death at the Alamo, this CD is a wonderful trip through history and a tribute to one of America's most beloved heroes.

K.R. is an artist that teaches Texas history through song and narration. In this "Crockett Chronicles" CD, Mr. Wood, along with many well-known Texas recording artists, sings songs and tells stories that bring history to life. The program is well suited for history buffs of all ages and is especially applicable for 4th and 7th grade students studying Texas and American History.

On August 17, 2002, during a dedication ceremony for Davy Crockett at the Alamo, the direct descendants of Davy Crockett adopted K.R. as a member of their extended family. It was an honor bestowed on K.R. by the family for preserving the Crockett legend. Additionally, Mr. Wood's band members had the rare privilege of being part of a handful of artists allowed to play the fiddle that belonged to Davy Crockett. Commissioned for use on very rare occasions, the Crockett Fiddle is on display at the Witte Museum in San Antonio Texas.

This musical narrative has gained interest from educators as a new and exciting teaching tool, using lyrics that stimulate visual images and vocals that inspire sing-a-long participation. Whether you are an educator, a history buff, or just someone that likes great music, you will enjoy “Crockett Chronicles.”

We would like to extend our special thanks to all of our musicians who contributed and participated in the making of this CD.
