KR Wood and the Fathers of Texas Band recieved the honor of being the first band ever to be granted permission by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas(DRT) to record live inside the Shrine of the Alamo. The Witte Museum graciously consented to the use of the fiddle belonging to Davy Crockett. This famous violin bears the inscription "This fiddle is my property, Davy Crockett, Franklin County, Tenn. Feb. 14, 1819."
This project was recorded on February 25, 2007, coinciding with the 171st anniversary of the siege if the Alamo. Guest artists included, Pauline Reese and her band, Doug Moreland, T. Gozney Thornton, Mike Fowler(played the Crockett Fiddle), Doug Taylor, Greg Lowry, Gerry Burns, Joe Forlini, Paul Pearcy, Jim Price, Billy Bright, Charles Yates, award winning singer-songwritter Bobby Keel of Tennessee, and our Alamo chior(the singing DNA) consisted of Ms.Allie Kurtin, Ms.Courtney Crockett(4th great grand daughters of Davy Crockett), Ms. Judy Hames and Mel robinson.
