Kryptos was founded in the winter of 1998 by Nolan Lewis (guitars) and Ganesh K (bass/vocals) with the underlying intention to pay homage to the glorious metal/thrash era of the 1980s.
9 years have passed since that fateful winter, during which Kryptos welcomed Akshay Patel (guitars) and Ryan Colaco (drums) into the fold, and developed into a raging metallic beast of razor-sharp melodic riffage and searing thrash madness.
With their obvious love for 80's metal/thrash, it comes as no surprise that their influences include the almighty trio of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Their influences come from legendary thrashers Coroner, Sodom and Kreator as well as forward-thinking bands like the incomparable Dark Tranquility and Nevermore.
In 2004, Kryptos released their debut album, Spiral Ascent (available at The End Records), which quickly gained rave reviews from all over the globe and earned the band a small but dedicated cult following in their home country India as well as in parts of Europe and South America.
Since then, the band's core has undergone some massive changes, following the departure of Ganesh K and Akshay Patel. They have been replaced by Rohit Chaturvedi on guitars and Jayawant Tewari on bass, who have both been part of local cult 80s metal outfit, Mutiny, with Nolan Lewis switching to guitars and vocals.
The Ark Of Gemini will be released worldwide through OSM Records on June 13th, 2008. The album ups the ante from the debut in every way possible. From heavy crushing riffage and blazing solos, to anthemic guitar harmonies and epic songwriting, metalheads can expect nothing less than 100% pure heavy metal with tons of melody, precision and aggression.
