Keith has never been nominated for a grammy, but he has played with several grammy award winners who held Keith and his music in very high regard. The CD includes 8
Keith Scott originals and 1 very unique treatment of a Billy Joel song. Below is a short description of each:
1. Built in 1897, The National Theater is considered San José´s most impressive public building. Mixed with the jazz is a short segment of a C.P.E. Bach piece called ¨Solfeggietto¨ to add a little classical touch.
2. The Jazz Café, San Pedro, is where Keith first performed in Costa Rica, playing piano and singing Billy Joels \"Just The Way You Are\" for a newly engaged couple. The hundred or so mostly college students were very receptive, making the evening quite memorable. This is a fresh treatment featuring the jazz piano trio with a much different rhythmic feel than the original.
3. Puerto Limón, on the Caribbean side of the country, is where you can hear lots of raggae music. This instrumental ditty featuring a vibe lead was inspired by that vibrant music scene.
4. After several visits to this beautiful church to hear baroque concerts of organ, viola, and trumpets, Keith decided to write a tribute composition. Its very baroque sounding at first, but morphs into a hand clapping celebration that should get you moving.
5. Poás Volcano (cover picture) is in a national park where you can peer into the active volcano on a clear day. Its last big blow was in 1953, which formed this eerie and enormous crater, 1.3 km across and 300 m deep. At present, geyser type eruptions occur periodically with peaceful interludes lasting minutes or weeks. Some fun sound effects were used on this production to enhance the impact.
6. Week days in San José tend to be one hectic traffic jam, but Sundays are a little more relaxed, with street musicians working for tips and restaurants a little less crowded. This tune features a synth flute lead and a masterful piano improv in the middle.
7. \"At The Beach\" depicts a beach trip from sunrise till sunset and all the frolicking in between. It features Keith´s flugelhorn and piano in a back and forth frisbee type effect.
8. Consuelo means comfort or consolation in spanish. Keith wrote this tune about four months after moving to Costa Rica in 2007. His solo piano style shines so much that you don\'t even miss the bass and drums. The spanish flavor is palatable.
9. Monteverde is a quaker settlement in a virtually unspoiled rain forest. The local people there are making a living from the rain forest without destroying any of it\'s ecology or natural beauty. The quakers who first settled there in 1948 to escape the \"war country\" are involved in organic farming techniques, solar energy, and other technologies geared toward salvaging our planet. This relaxing composition with electric piano and rain forest background is almost 10 minutes long, and could probably be useful for inducing a power nap or two.
