"With the exceptions of 'It's Too Late' and 'Blue Monk,' Keith has sung these songs in his numerous performances through the years. Knowing the lyrics to these tunes gives him special insight needed to interpret them instrumentally, and it really shows in his renditions. I love this collection ahd have it on the top of my easy listening rack, right next to Keith's WAIKIKI CD, which features his brass playing. I have several favorites that I'll be playing often on the airwaves. Good luck with your new CD, Keith, and keep them coming. It's great music."

Critics have acclaimed Keith's interpretations not only as "a CD that rewards repeat listening," John Berger (Honolulu Star Bulletin) but also "a stellar artist awaiting induction into the galaxy of music greats. A wonderful easy-listening 'find'." Wayne Harada (Honolulu Advertiser).
"It seems that every time I move to a new place,I'm inspired to do a music project, and Costa Rica is no exception to that rule. The Central Valley of C.R. has lush green mountains surrounding the bustling city and suburbs of San Jose, with the type of scenery and year round temperate climate that really gets the creative juices flowing. Thirteen songs are covers and the other one, 'Costa Rica Mi Consuelo,' I wrote especially for this CD. This project is all solo piano style, and contains my favorite longing songs. Longing for love, a place, or a dream."
Thanks for listening, Keith Scott
Descriptions:
On De Lange's 'Do You Know What it Means,' The A sections were played in stride piano style and the bridges in a swing feel to give them more contrast. A variety of substitute chord changes were utilized. This is one of Keith's personal favorites. "Here's That Rainy Day" was played only one time through, keeping it short and to the point. Scott arranged this tune for big band in his senior year of college, and it won him the Down Beat Magazine yearly scholarship to Berklee College of Music in 1968. That award winning big band arrangement can be found on Keith's REFLECTIONS CD. This new piano rendition is filled with full sounding alternate chord changes. Carole King's tune, "It's Too Late," was played on the Yamaha Clavinova model CLP-220 electric piano using one of the classic electric piano patches for a funkier groove. "You Don't Know Me" and Hoagy Charmichael's "Georgia on my Mind," are a humble tribute to the late Ray Charles, who set such high standards for quality and soulfulness. "Blue Monk" is a Thelonius Monk tune that was written in 4/4 time, but it's performed here in 3/4 time, offering a fresh approach to this classic blues head. Keith says, "I had so much fun arranging and recording Billy Joel's 'New York State of Mind'. It includes a modulation, a swing improvisation, several quotes from the song 'New York, New York,' and some interesting new chord progressions of my own on the bridges." Arthur Hamilton's song, "Cry Me a River," is known as a slow and melancholy blues tune, but Keith did a 180 on this and funked it up in a straight 4/4 feel. "Unchained Melody" was changed from a slow 12/8 feel to a 6/8 meter, which resulted in the song going by a little faster than it's usual treatment. It also has one interesting chord substitution in the A section that I am really fond of. The remaining songs have all been given fresh arrangements and special attention to detail.
Keith's performances in C.R. this year included a two week stint as "guest musical director and featured recording artist" for the Dominical Little Theatre in April, and an ongoing by-weekly piano night at La Posada El Quijote Hotel in Escazu. Included with this CD are pictures of Keith performing at three different venues in Costa Rica. For info on upcoming performances, E-mail Keith at ricabound@aol.com

His keyboard work is unparalleled! Just one night of watching his live show and you'll have enough adrenaline to boost you through the week. He'll love you like Neil Diamond and beat up on you like Rodney Dangerfield. That's why the crowds kept forming on Friday nights when he held court in Tampa Bay. An astonishing performer!
