Having already performed with blues bands from Connecticut to Texas and everywhere in between, Kevin is not new to the blues scene. He honed his chops by joining the regionally popular Fat Daddy Band in 1996 at the ripe old age of 22. During his tenure with them, the Fat Daddy Band won the Charlotte Blues Society's 2001 Talent Competition and was a finalist at the Blues Foundation's 2002 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. He has played at some the nation's best blues clubs including: The Slippery Noodle -Indianapolis, IN; Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar - Nashville, TN; The Double Door Inn - Charlotte, NC; J.M. Randall's - Williambsurg, VA; Midway Tavern - Mishawaka, IN; Stroker's - Dallas, TX; and Chip's Winder, GA just to name a few. In Sept 2005, he and the Tornadoes had the honor and pleasure of backing up Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater at the Taste of The Blue Ridge Blues Festival in Roanoke, VA. His diverse style can be described as a range from traditional Chicago blues ("nice Hubert Sumlin licks" - Bob Margolin) to powerful Texas Swing ("punishing guitar work a la Jimi meets Stevie Ray" - Ralph Berrier Jr., The Roanoke Times). The band includes: Kevin "The Kid" Selfe - Guitar, Harmonica, & Vocals; Tommy Reviea- Drums; Jake Dempsey - Bass.

A Stellar Release !!!

Having penned eight of the ten songs on this CD, and handling all duties on guitar, vocals and harp, Kevin Selfe is a real talent. To give proper credit, he also happens to front a skintight, blues-rocking band in the form of the Tornadoes. Ushering the blues into the 21st century, Kevin Selfe and the Tornadoes new CD "Selfe-Contained" is most highly recommended.
