Album Notes

Kristine Snyder began her musical career playing piano at the age of 5. Being raised in a musical family, her older sister was already an accomplished harpist when Kristine followed suit and started playing harp in high school. In college, she majored in piano and minored in harp.

Kristine has performed and recorded with orchestras, symphonies, and gospel groups. In addition to playing for weddings, she works regularly in hotels and restaurants. Kristine also plays in Maui’s two symphonies, Maui Pops Orchestra and Haleakala Symphony. While traveling in France, she discovered and purchased an electric/acoustic pedal harp which adds a whole new dimension to harp music. The electric harp, with 44 separate microphone pick-ups (one for each string), provides the volume and range to allow her to play for large groups and outdoor settings with a richness and sound that amplified acoustic harps cannot achieve. It also allows Kristine to play jazz and rock music, sounds not usually associated with the harp's angelic reputation. She named her harp “Blue”.
