"Kelly Takunda Orphan has been on a long and wondrous musical journey beginning with her Armenian roots to the percussion driven music of West Africa, Zimbabwe, and the Carribean. This, her first recording, reveals a rare breed of musician who carefully and respectfully fuses together music from disparate cultures. The vocals are warm and lush - the rythm tracks will make you want to dance."
Linda Tillery, singer, percussionist, cultural historian & leader of grammy nominated group, Linda Tillery & the Cultural Heratige Choir.

Mellow, meaningful songs spiced with great percussion grooves
author: Maria Minnaar-Bailey
These songs vibrate with soul and hum with life. Kelly Takunda's mellow alto voice and easy, natural percussion grooves are great to listen to when your spirits need a lift and your feet need to dance. There is a variety of songs and styles on this CD, keeping it fresh and interesting. Kelly has woven threads from many musical cultures into her music, especially the percussive elements, and the result is this glorious magic carpet of sound. The lyrics are thoughtful and empowering. This music makes me smile, and renews the hope in my heart.
