notes

Melodic, nostalgic, whimsical, and fantastic: this is the musical world of Bryce Kulak.

Tin Can Telephone is the soundtrack to the images in your mind. These songs crackle with bizarre characters, poignant stories, rhyming jokes, and highly literate language, capturing the essence of cabaret. Kulak has claimed that resurging genre and is running with it.

Kulak grew up onstage, acting in theatre and playing classical piano. An award-winning composer, he has performed with symphony orchestras and in theatrical world premieres. He crafts original songs that brilliantly showcase his talents as a dramatist, vocalist, and musician. His six-track debut album, Welcome, achieved a loyal following worldwide. Tin Can Telephone is a full-length recording of all-new songs, in arrangements from lush chamber orchestra to solo piano and voice. Often compared to the great songwriters of the original cabaret era, Bryce Kulak carries the torch of this compelling genre into the new century.

This CD includes a lavishly illustrated 26-page booklet with all the lyrics. Sing along!

Contains mature language and subject matter.

I laugh, tear up and want to share this music with everyone I know. It's difficult to sum up good music besides simply stating it. This ablum is very very very good. Just buy it will ya?

A must have for anybody who can't pin their musical tastes to one or two genres. Unbelievable imagery.

  • unbelievable talent

Billy Joel? Rufus Wainright? Hawksley Workman? Throw all that in a blender, add a cup of originality, one of humor, and an liberal amount of sensitivity and you end up with this album. A lush broadway showstopper which could be too sentimental becomes an ode to a sock! Brilliant! Each song is as different as is possible but underneath is the overriding genius of a wonderful storyteller and musical talent. This is fast becoming my favorite album.
