'At times exhilarating, heart wrenching, and dance inducing...Useful comparisons include the Sugarcubes, Curve, Cocteau Twins, and Joy Division--but honestly, you've never heard anything quite like this local band.' Amy Kate Horn, The Stranger

Album Notes

Made up of five members, Bre Loughlin, (vocals), Dave Dayton, (guitar), Corey Paganucci, (keys and programs), Neal Hallmark, (guitar), and Aaron Nicholes (drums), Kumasound's bond was formed in the summer of 2002. They were brought together by a desire to do something different, and drawing on a very diverse collective experience they soon developed the new sound that they were looking for. Bre came from a punk background, singing and playing keyboards in The Stuck-Ups (Sympathy Records). Dave, a fixture in the Seattle rock scene, had previously shared the stage with bands including The Fastbacks, Alice in Chains, Green Apple Quick Step and Candlebox. Neal played guitar in trip-hop band Emma's Mini and Corey did independent recordings of electronic music. After a very short time together they recorded their first EP Rewind with Jonathan Plum in September 2002, and their second EP That Moment of Silence Before a Disaster at Robert Lang Studios in October 2003. Fast Colliding, Kumasound's first full length CD was Recorded with Jonathan Plum in Seattle, and completed in May 2005.

Perfect Receipt!

if you want an album that is so well balanced from beginning to end and performances and productions that are at 100% on each track from rock to ballad...then look no further. From the musicians to lyrics to vocals...this line up nailed it! I am very happy I got to see them perform live at least once before the unfortunate break up of the band, but like old photos, you can't go back but you can definitely have a black real living the time through the play button.

The most played CD in my collection
author: Tina
I listen to this CD more than any other that I have. I love how the music is dark without being brooding and is very danceable. The songs are perfect, catchy and unique.

Great CD. Gets better each time I listen.

This is a great CD. Think Siouxsie and 12 Rounds. Electronics and guitar live happily together here with live drums. It all works. It is a little dark, kinda quirky. I have Kuma's 2 EPs and this album is way better; there is more complexity and depth. This would be a good cd if the lyrics sucked, but they do not, they are great. I'm happy.
