"By the Way" is the debut album on Reason Records from Bay Area singer/songwriter Eric Kuo. His unique style blends pop, folk, and rock into an eclectic, yet solid collection of incredibly catchy tunes. While the album's Christian lyrics may not appeal to all, they reflect a sincere faith behind a positive message, with clever twists and interesting story lines. Says Eric, "The energy that went into this project was tremendous, and the [engineers] did a great job capturing this in the end result. It's incredibly satisfying to know that fans drawn to the music will also be encouraged by the message behind the songs." The songs on this album rely heavily on live guitar, drums, and bass, which may disappoint fans accustomed to his earlier synth-pop and sequencer-driven work. But with a long supporting roster of Northern California musical talent that includes Jude Gold, Axel Rudich, Atma Anur, Jason Muscat, Stuart Quan, and Ben Patterson, you just might be pleasantly surprised with what you hear. Vocal support includes the rich sounds of Susan Yu and Kristin Dorsey. The production and mix are top-notch, with the result being a full, round sound that will please even the most discerning audiophile.
