Wow!  

I don't have any small children, but this CD makes me wish I did!  This is one kid's CD I wouldn't mind if my kids wanted to listen to 1000 times.  

Yes, it's got good messages for the kids, delivered in a fun way that's going to get their attention and keep it.  It has a lot of "sing-along" stuff that even I found myself singing along to.

But the real treat is the music.  Underneath the silly kid's songs is some seriously great playing from Kurt Gallagher and his all-star sidemen (guitarist Bob Brozman, Kora master Peter Burtt, Tuba player Jim Parker, vocalist Penny Nichols, drummer Ed Nardi).  Calypso, swing, Piedmont blues, slide pyrotechnics - it's all here.  Kids who listen to this are going to grow up with great musical taste without knowing exactly where they got it - but their parents will be there to remind them when they ask.

We first discovered Kurt at the Montclair Public Library.  I thought I'd just give the cd a try, but my kids LOVED it.  Believe me, we've gone to so many Music Together classes, that we've actually got duplicate CDS, but Kurt's stuff is different.  They especially like the Color song, and the Human Being song.  His music stops ALL car fights!
