We TOTALLY DIG your new CD, “Let's Go, a song cycle“...We
talk about the characters, their personalities,
feelings, etc.… This CD could be an Excellent Kids
book…

What a great collection of songs! The production is completely different from Kurt's last album, no tuba, no Brozman, no Peter Burtt, but this doesn't mean it sounds less proficient.
I like the concept of a concept album of kids' songs. Even when you thought, like me, that Kurt's songwriting was already top notch, he has improved further. It's great fun to try and pick all the influences that he's merging in his compositions. Not that these influences are obvious, but I think I can make out ideas that were inspired by the Kinks, Bob Brozman, Elvis Costello, Led Kaapana, Brinsley Schwarz, John Cephas, the Rolling Stones, Woody Mann and probably also the Bee Gees.
All in all, the music sounds extremely lively and organic, and if there are any kids in your house between age 5 and 71, I would recommend you get a copy. There's so much kids' music nowadays making the parents cringe (especially if they actually like music), but this is a welcome exception, highly entertaining and never boring!
And hats off to Jay Edelman for his lead guitar playing! Jay, you rock!!!

Kurt, Great disc, man. Fine songwriting. Jay plays his tail off. Love your uke work. & even as an old fart, I dig the subject material.
You should be proud.
