Album Notes

Kassia Women\'s Choir was established in Hong Kong by Bethan Greaves in April 2003. It is open to women who simply love to sing – we have members who have been in choirs their whole life and others for whom this is the first time; some have had musical training, some come to their first rehearsal not reading a note. Everyone shares a common goal, however, of wanting to achieve the best sound possible, whilst also making new friends and improving their choral skills en route.

The choir runs slightly differently to many amateur choirs in that we have three 10-week terms per year, each one resulting in a big show replete with costumes, set, lighting and dance moves. Every term we learn a totally new set of music that takes its inspiration from a particular genre including country, gospel, Motown, disco and world to name but a few.

This means some of our longest serving members will have learned close to 160 songs in just five years – no mean feat! It also means this CD showcasing our \'First Five Years\' is a fairly eclectic offering representing some of our many highlights thus far.
