This record brings back a lot of memories of working alongside Robert in his booths at art fairs and jazz festivals in the 90s. We'd take turns spinning this one along with "Solo Sax', "Brazilian Moon" and a few other discs. I was struck then, as I am today, at the broad range of genres that are at Rob's disposal. It's all here--smooth jazz, jump blues, charanga--all played with the elegance and eloquence his listeners have come to expect from him.

The Only CD I Want Playing On Stressful Days!

I have always worked with music playing either on my desk or through my headphones. On those days when people are yakking all around me and phones are ringing off the hook and I need all my concentration abilities focused on what I'm doing, I play "That Other Place" and Robert's "smooth as ribbon" sax playing puts me in the frame of mind needed to drown out the craziness around me! I love all his work but am especially fond of this album.

Once When All Was Timeless

You can judge how outstanding a CD is when the artist doesn't think it necessary to put his best track on the sampler list (this author's opinion). ONCE UPON A TIME might have been titled, Once When All Was Timeless, because it is. So, you may have to purchase the CD to hear this timeless work of art. But rest assured, you'll not be disappointed with all the great music that follows.
