notes
If you dig into the recesses of your memory, and recall the millions of little things that inexplicably wiped away your tear-stained cheeks as a child, that's what listening to Kyler is like. Hearing her sing is like a warm hug, a brightly colored band-aid on a skinned knee, a lollipop and a sticker after a visit to the doctor, a handful of dandelions in an old jelly jar. However, there is nothing childish about her approach to music. Her songs mostly deal with matters of life and love: the euphoric ups and devastating downs of relationships, battling the stresses of everyday life, the struggles of letting go and moving on. Very simply put, she makes the best of a bad situation by transforming even the darkest emotions into dazzling works of beauty and perfection.
From the minute she picks up her acoustic guitar and the first notes escape her lips, the audience is drawn in and captivated by her warmth and charm. Kyler's acoustic feel evokes the spirit of singer-songwriter predecessors like Joni Mitchell and Sarah McLachlan, but her unique sound forges its own path. She melds together elements of folk, rock, and pop, creating seamless pieces that are mellow and introspective, but with enough edge to grab and take hold of your attention. Her voice envelops you like a favorite sweater on a winter day, and her songs are individual perfect little rooms you want nothing more than to hide away in. Her lyrics are always poignant and honest, revealing the inner truths of human emotion. The combination of all these things hits the heart in such a way that all of that baggage you've been carrying melts away, and you're left with nothing but feelings of peace and contentment.

Great voice, great album
author: Tim BKyler has a superb voice. The album is very addictive and well worth buying. I would also recommend her 'Green Room Sessions' EP.

A Beautiful Voice, and a Fantastic Album!
author: John Warnes (England, UK)I bought this album a couple of months ago. Now at first I thought it was good, but I didn't listen to it that many times. However, it now draws me back again and again - and it's easily my favourite album I've bought this year. Kyler is a real talent - I wish her all the best, and I'll certainly be buying more of her music in future!
why isn't she famous?
author: BillI first heard and saw Kyler at a recent James Taylor concert in Raleigh, NC.I tend to gravitate to singers whose words actually mean something and have voices that can carry it off. Growing up in the 60's I've heard and seen some really great acts. I think Kyler will be there soon. An excellent singer AND songwriter-killer combo. You go gal!
Wonderful voice, wonderful songs.
author: John HancockJust bought this cd and If The World Would Just End. This is an upbeat album full of interesting love songs. Kyler's powerful voice is highlighted on the title track and Distraction. Laika is an interesting song.. not one of my favorites but not many songs about an astromutt...haha. I highly recommend this CD. Big City Boy is one of my favorite songs. It describes the relationship I have with my wife..she is a small town girl and I have always lived in or near major cities. BUY this CD. Support Indie music. Kyler is going to be a major star.
Fresh, fun and very moving
author: BeverlyIf you're still making up your mind, just listen to Higher Ground or Distraction. I'll bet you'll end up loving Kyler. Her lyrics, music and feel are right on. There's not a so-so track in the bunch. Well done!
An enchanting and rare find
author: Kim M.I find some of the best things in my life are those that somehow found me. I have no clear recollection of how I managed to stumble on to Kyler's website and her "pop-up" radio which plays "A Flower Grows In Stone" in its entirety, but I feel fortunate to have experienced her music. I cannot say enough good things about this CD, her vocals and her poignant writing. She is incredibly gifted, sensitive, soulful, and she generously allows us to share her heartaches and her successes through the appropriately named "A Flower Grows In Stone".

Great CD - Every song worth listening to!
author: MollyThis cd was a great find for me - I came onto the site looking for a different artist and surfed around a little, stumbling on this. I enjoyed every song and found it to be a worthwhile buy - will definitely start looking for more! And I can't wait to hear her live in Atlanta!
A Thing of Beauty
author: Jason Erik Lundberg, Green Man ReviewKyler England’s newest album is a thing of beauty. Her previous album and EP dealt with the death of her mother from cancer, and of trying to comprehend how and why this could happen. Her music, while well-written and performed with enormous heart, was very melancholy and could be depressing. But it seems that with A Flower Grows in Stone, she is finally coming to terms with that loss, and moving on, learning to live again. Part folk acousticness and part pop sensibility, the new album explores themes of love, fame, and sacrifice in the modern world, and it is by far the best thing she has done yet.
top pop country tinged effort
author: underground willieevery song is solid in this cd, but a couple stand out for me. i like snowed in and something so beautiful the best with broken arrow close behind. when i heard snowed in the second time around i thought maybe this was recorded by martina or shania as a top hit. the music is basically pop with a country tinge to it. the artist should make a showing in nashville and try to get this on the radio nationally.
This album is awesome! I totally reccomend it. Stunning!
author: Edward Burke, a College DJ and music booker in VT.(Check out our radio station on-line at http://personalweb.smcvt.edu/wwpv.html) This album is awesome! Never have I heard a voice so sexy as Kyler's, nor have I heard songs so sexy as "Snowed in". Also check out "Dead End", my other favorite track. Lots of cool chords on that one. Kyler puts on an awesome live show as I saw a few months ago at my college, and she is doing a good job at making herself distict and unique in the midst of all those other singer-songwriters out there. Her instrumental and vocal talent is incredble(not to mention sexy, as I said above. Just look at the album cover to see what I mean), and her album definately deserves a few spins from you DJ's out there, and a little support from all you regular buyers and supporters of independent music on CDBaby. I usually tend to be turned off by the solo, singer-songwriter genre, but Kyler is different-definately an innovator. Absolutely superb.
I'm definitely a fan
author: LauraThis CD is so awesome! I've had it in my CD player since I bought it 2 weeks ago. The songs are so beautiful, and Kyler's voice is amazing. My favorite track is "The One," which is a wonderfully sad love song. If you are a Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, or a pre-pop Jewel fan, you should buy this CD. You won't be disappointed.
Amazing! Highly recommend this CD
author: Jeff BowersAmazing! The songs on this album are great. Very good production. Very professional. My favorite song is Higher Ground. Absolutely beautiful.
Kyler is an amazing performer
author: DawnKyler is as yet mostly undiscovered, as alluded to in her "Radioactive" track. This amazes me almost as much as Kyler's voice, especially now that this CD has been released. Her lyrics are so real and raw, and her delivery is top notch. If you don't own this CD, do yourself a favor and buy it NOW! This one is truly her best yet.

If you are a freak for good singer songwriters with a little rock edge, you should now read carefully, cause here is another girl to check out. Kyler have recently won some songwriting-competitions and that is not hard to understand. The songwriting is very solid with hooks and good refrains all over. How should I explain her style of music then? Hmmm… Take one spoon of Melissa Etheridge, one spoon of Meredrih Brooks, one spoon Michelle Branch and one spoon of Jann Arden and we’re quite near Kyler’s garden of music. The album opens with “Something So Beautiful” and that is sure a good tune, but it is at song number 2 it starts to move to the box with superlatives… What a great tune! And then at song number three it just continues… “Dean End” is the name and is also real damn good. On fourth out “Higher Ground” she delivers a soft and naked tune and I start to think of Amy Grant at her best moments. All “painted” with a beautiful production signed Richard Oliver Fuchs. And there are plenty more songs on the same level. Surf to her homepage and take a listen yourself. I’m sure you’ll have a new friend in this very talented artist and I’m sure we will hear MUCH more from her in the future, so remember where you read it first… And did I mention her voice?
WOW!
author: SusanAmazing. If you don't own this cd, you should. Great vocals, great lyrics and such talent. I've enjoyed every track. Bravo Kyler!
