ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A cleansing of the past, "A Brief History" is the culmination of past endeavours and fresh ink. The bulk of the material on this album spent a few years bouncing around smoky bars and writer's nights, waiting for the day I would take the time to lay them down. Juxtaposed folk rock toe-tappers and more basic folk songs, "A Brief History" walks you through every emotion of a "normal" day.

Doesn't do it for me
I bought this album on the strength of the brief previews (wish they were a smidge longer), the great cover (!) and so forth. I really wanted to like it, but after several listens I just can't. Kyle Richard's voice, though pleasant, always seems to be out of pitch. I know he wrote the songs and he can sing whatever notes he wants to, but that's the way it sounds to me. It's really distracting when you find yourself correcting the melody, and the lyrics and everything else (great backing) gets lost along the way. It's probably just me, but FWIW that's my opinion. Sorry, Kyle Richard.
