Kyle Swartzwelder has been a fixture on the Delaware folk-rock scene for five years. Like most of us, his taste for music came at an early age, listening to too much of The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel and discovering a 1968 Ovation Balladeer in his father's closet. He got his start backing up friends on guitar and after being encouraged to take center stage to claim some of the spotlight for himself, he soon found his voice as a performer. Any initial stage fright he felt quickly dissolved, as he's gone on to play over 150 live shows in numerous clubs, coffeehouses and open mics throughout the Delaware Valley.
2008 was clearly the busiest year of Kyle's short career. In addition to hosting a popular Thursday night open mic at Burlap & Bean in Newtown Square, PA, Kyle has just released his self-titled debut album. The record features eight songs; with Kyle being backed by some of the best players from the Philadelphia area. As a reward for his hard musical work, Kyle was named the Best Male Solo Artist of 2008 by 93.7 WSTW. In addition to that award, Kyle’s new record was nominated as the year’s best album. Prior to 2008, Kyle was nominated two years running as best male songwriter in Delaware by both 93.7 WSTW and Out-and-About.

Kyle is a marvelous story teller. His voice is strong and uplifting. His words are genuine. And the music that accompanies each song supports the emotion behind the words. It is a CD that I can listen to time and time again. I only wish there were more songs on the CD to enjoy!
