ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
La barrio Manouche is the newest sensation from musical impresario TAD SHARPE, who was deeply influenced by the circle of music that is Gypsy Jazz, the influence of 1920\'s american jazz upon a young frenchman, Django Reinhardt, who took it to france and made that his own, with a small ensemble of guitars, bass & fiddle. Creating La Jazz Manouche out of those stolen melodies, Django and his band of illiterate gypsies began a style of music around his \"imported\" jazz music... thru the decades, other music forces have traveled thru that time period and space, and have resulted in a profound movement of DJANGO festivals and renewed gypsy guitar music from such greats as John Jorgenson, Romaine, Jimmy Rosenburg, and others.

la barrio manouche combines and takes from the swing of that (original??) gypsy jazz, and combines it with fresh swashes of flatpicked guitar, the emotion of flamenco, the eroticism of eastern music, and the power of american rock, all in one very powerful cocktail.
