Album Notes

Michigan born Adam Labeaux has been performing professionally since 1992. He was chorally trained, and taught himself how to play guitar by listening to records and watching other musicians. He is a fierce rhythmic guitarist, and an adept finger-style player.

Adam plays what he calls jafolfunk fusion. It is a blend of no-so-equal parts jazz, folk, soul, funk, and rock, creating a sound distinctly his own.

His songs are filled with poetry and personal tales, dreams and philosophy. Adam says of his songs, "I believe that presenting a song is akin to painting a picture. The listener must be able see that picture clearly, and experience an emotional response to it."

His vocal style has been compared favorably to Jeff Buckley, Rusted Root's Michael Glabicki, Natalie Merchant and Cher, among others.

His first CD release "Food for Thought", with the jazz-rock quintet PERPLEX circa 1997 was hailed as "Easily one of the most repeatedly enjoyable listening experiences one is ever bound to encounter." by the Bay Area Review Magazine.

Delightful Artistry
author: mirinda
The stories told here are heartwarming and captivating. I listened starry eyed, they're so whimsical and yet grounded, stylistically set apart by their charming duality: at once simple and deep, heartfelt and pragmatic. I'm very grateful Adam has let this music out into the world... and if he were in Tiger Beat I would freakin' buy it and put his posters on my wall!

Outstanding songwriting, both melodies and lyrics.
author: Vandeervecken
This is outstanding songwriting, both the melodies and lyrics are intelligent, thoughtful, and fun to listen too. I keep playing this CD over and over again. Several songs stick in your brain for days on end. However which ones are my favorite changes from day to day and mood to mood. Not a dud on the disk. I will buy his next one for certain. If there was any justice in the world of music, this guy would be a major star.
