Album Notes

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Elaine began studying piano, violin and singing at age 3. Elaine studied voice at the Peabody Conservatory of Music and the Royal College of Music. She performs and tours throughout the U.S. with some highlights including the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center with the Mark Morris Dance Company and soprano soloist for the New York Collegium and the Waverly Consort. Elaine has composed and produced two CDs \'9\' (2002) and Apolune (2005) with drummer Ryan Cavan and bassist Rich Chapple. She is currently working on her 3rd CD with producer Kieran Kelly (The Receiver) recorded at the Buddy Project in New York with bassist Rob Calder (Ari Hest), drummer Mark Stepro (Ben Kweller), guitarist Aaron Lee Tasjan (Semi Precious Weapons), string quartet led by violinist Rob Moose (Sufjan Stevens, The National, Beth Orton, Antony and the Johnsons), with violinist Pauline Kim, violist Hiroko Taguchi and cellist Robert Burkhart which will be released in 2009.

i love "9". the cd is full of meaning, depth, and soul. i love the steady pace, graceful movement, and dynamics of the music. the songs are not crowded with sophistications that demand your ears to work but are sophisticated, nonetheless, in a very otherworldly, kind, beautiful way.
