Album Notes

The first thing you will ask when you see this beautiful woman is, “who is she?”

Then, you will probably spend a lifetime trying to figure it out.

LADEANA MICHELLE. Gosh, she’s unpredictable. Sometimes, it’s hard to keep up. Just when you’re convinced she’s gone left, you learn she’s gone right. Like a box a’ chocolates. You think you know, but you really never know what you’re going to get. It is what happens when a child is born a gifted speed-reader with a photographic memory and brilliant mind, professionally trained on flute and clarinet, but self-taught on eight additional instruments. The child grows up with not much of anything she can’t do and will do any of it at any given time.

We can’t help but love this child.

She’s Oakland, California native LaDeana Michelle, relative of soul legends Sam Cooke and Eddie Kendricks of the Tempations, who stands on her own as a multi-octave vocalist, songwriter, producer, arranger, composer, actress, screenwriter, print model, designer, poet, author, CEO and savvy businesswoman and has performed with (and/or has provided production work for) Patti Labelle, New Edition, Queen Latifah, Howard Hewett, Ice Cube, Peabo Bryson, En Vogue, Mint Condition, KC & Jo-Jo, Ali Woodson and many more from all genres.

She’s the newest Celebrity Vegan Poster Girl. Yes - VEGAN. She is currently finishing a book series, with accompanying screenplays. She is a commercial jingle specialist, computer programs specialist, writes video treatments and can do voiceover work. An avid youth sports supporter, volunteer, and humanitarian, LaDeana Michelle teamed up with Grammy award-winning singer/producer Ne-Yo, in support of youth fundraising events (Compound Entertainment) and is set to additionally yield several upcoming films, multi-million dollar development projects and foundation-based social programs dedicated to help the homeless, the abused, underprivileged youth and starving children worldwide. She was also directly responsible for saving the life of—(and ultimate rehabilitation of) a once-successful homeless man who had lost his way. Her rapidly-growing, annual “Love Quarter” campaign (January 1st-March 31st) which already boasts ten releases (four video, six music) set to run every first quarter for the next nine years, yields her notable slogan, “Changing Lives One Day at a Time” and promotes love, social awareness, unity and change through music and visual arts.

That’s just the beginning.

Not just an artist, but an entity, LaDeana Michelle has graced stages and screens all across the U.S. in television, music, theater and film, including NBC’s medical drama, ER, with Mekhi Phifer and MTV, Time Life and E! Entertainment Television commercials, also performing under the gifted direction of NAACP Theater Award winning choreographer/director, Otis Sallid and entertainment mogul Dick Scott (Teddy Riley, Mark Wahlberg, Boys II Men) with the legendary Emotions. As a full-fledged producer, she has R&B, Neo-Soul, Pop, Gospel, House, Hip-Hop, Rap, Rock, Adult Contemporary, Country and even Jazz production projects under her belt. With five studio releases (six, if you count the current) and 17 additional worldwide album releases, she has also rendered commercial jingles for Coke, Pepsi, American Express, MasterCard, Budweiser, Burger King, Legends of Soul (Deniece Williams) and Dolby Sound and mirrors predecessors R. Kelly and Prince as the sole writer, producer, arranger, composer and performer of her forthcoming 2011 debut album.

Until now, the majority of her past releases were powerful ballads and slow or medium grooves, praised by listeners and critics as reminiscent of the timeless jams Soul crooners R. Kelly, Keith Sweat, The Isley Brothers, H-Town, Silk (Freak Me) and Jodeci (Cry For You) were most notable for.

It wasn’t a bad thing.

"Inside Love’s Window" included romantic ballads, “I Can’t” and “More Than Friends”, which ranked #1 in two top ten R&B and Urban charts and placed LaDeana Michelle as a top 25 artist overall on Soundclick, a music-based, social community that reports over 4 million songs, 491,000 bands and artists, and 4 million registered members. "Keep Your Faith" was the “Official 2009 Barack Obama Inauguration Song”, "Rare", her internationally-acclaimed tribute song/video to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was is still being requested on World News, and “Believe”, honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and President Obama, featured in The Urban Music Scene online magazine, with artists Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Charlie Wilson and more in tow, reportedly received the most hits ever recorded by the magazine in its history. Shall we dare to mention “Glaze”, her most recent highly-praised release that is still currently in regular rotation on radio stations in the U.S., U.K. and Germany? There’s much more, but we’ll stop here. The fact is…everything she’s touched earned her a massive following of national and international fans all awaiting one thing: Her highly-anticipated, debut album, which is slated to drop October, 2011.

Just when the universe embraced her going east, she hit a u-turn, heading west. We know one thing for certain. LaDeana Michelle marches to the beat of her own drum at all times.

Maybe it's because she's in control of her drumsticks.

Her current release “Like It’s Your Birthday” is fast. Let me repeat. It’s FAST...and shows off her production skills in a "speedier" light. In fact, this hot joint is a “feel-good” dance single (pop, with a soulful flair) and is currently hailed by early critics and focus studies as the “sure-fire dance hit of the summer”.

They’re all probably right.

There is something phenomenally undeniable about LaDeana Michelle that keeps all ages craving her distinctive, songbird voice, unique sound and influential messages within her music and lyrics. Sure, she is very easy on the eyes, but she also reminds you of the sweetest, simplest things in life; a time when you could love, be free and just do what Bobby McFerrin once told us, “Don’t worry. Be happy.” LaDeana Michelle gives us….peace.

Don’t be fooled, though. That peaceful sweetness is a trap. Like a strong undercurrent, she will inevitably draw you in, as she has done with the rest of the world. Once you’re hooked, you’re hooked. Oh well. What’d he say? Don’t worry. Be happy.
You won’t be able to help yourself, anyway.

“LaDeana Michelle is just great. She can’t help it, no matter what she sings.” – DJ Slyde

“LaDeana Michelle is not your typical, predictable girl. She is beautiful and no-nonsense, but humble. Gentle, soft and sweet, but with a real edge to her—like the popular babe-cheerleader-sweetheart hottie u loved to hang with in high school because she was the only one who spoke to you out of the group. She’s outgoing and friendly, yet extremely private. She dislikes following trends with a passion. Instead, she seeks to set the tone. Mix all that with her incredible voice and you’ve got a winner.

- Joe Black, Sparks Music Group/Entertainment

"Who cares that LaDeana Michelle is related to Sam Cooke, Eddie Kendricks and Lord knows who else? It has nothing to do with her level of talent. She stands on her OWN. I don’t think there’s anything she can’t do. She will rise…inevitably."

- Glenn Cannon, G Cannon Films

"LaDeana Michelle is just wonderful--voice and music is amazing! Her Love Quarter campaign is just what is needed in today's society."

- Vivian Green-Ellis, President, CV Ellis & Company

"Alas…a beautiful, talented, intelligent entertainer with MORALS. LaDeana Michelle. Has a nice ring to it. The combination is exciting.”

- Ricky Fox, Soul TV Underground Network
