notes
Michael Laderoute is a performing songwriter, originally from Arnprior in Ontario's Ottawa Valley. Now located in Toronto. "A River I Know"is his first CD.
He spent many years in high school bands, travelling later and performing in venues from Ontario, to California, Tennessee, Texas and even the Pacific Coast of Mexico. He honed his writing skills in university and in listening to as many songwriters as his brain cells would allow in. A chance trip through the American South exposed Michael to all the great writers from Texas and surrounding areas - Guy Clark, Joe Ely, Townes, Ray Wylie Hubbard. He knew he had found his kindred spirits.
A meeting with Guy Clark after a 1990 Nashville Summer Lights Clark concert turned into an elbow and ear bending session at a nearby tavern where the 2 writers swapped a guitar and some tunes long into the night.
Laderoute continues to write and play in the Toronto area and is planning an extensive tour to support his latest CD, "A River I Know" which is receiving good airplay across Canada and the UK.

Michael has great songwriting ability. His music resembles that of Neil Young
The River I Know
author: Richard HallI knew Michael from Arnprior back in the Sixties so when I saw this album I had to get it. I enjoy the John Prine type style. Lorne's Barber Shop is a great song and brings back memories of getting my hair " clipped" there. Looking forward to more from Mikael Richard Hall
An Americana Dream cd!
author: Michelle HartleyIf you love story songs picked and sung with a voice that is as raw and natural as your favorite uncle's on the porch at a family reuinion, this cd is one not to miss! Thank you Michael! Michele

Relaxed and easy, fine storytellin' ...more please?
author: bill moserSits well between Kris Kristofferson and John Prine. I'm going to say we don't get the likes of these accross the pond. No Forum, no marketplace ..here comes internet!
I wish Laderoute was on my label
author: Dennis Kinsey, Head Honcho, Hondo Mesa RecordsI can't stop playing Michael Laderoute's "Jennifer and Rudy." I love his style and wish he was on Hondo Mesa Records. This is an awesome debut CD!
A Real Live Troubadour!!!!
author: Warren R.I found out about Michael through MySpace and heard a couple of his songs. I really enjoyed the music and bought the CD. A couple weeks later, I got to meet Michael at one of his shows at a small pub. Just him and his guitar and it was amazing. His songs are about real life. If you love country and folk music, you'll love Michael Laderoute!!!!
My kind of music!
author: Bilbbitt le hoboI heard a few songs on his Myspace page and I knew I had to get this CD. This is totally my kind of music: country-folk in the Texan tradition (although Mr. Laderoute comes from the Ottawa region - which adds something for me because I am from that area myself!), with great songs supported by nice, simple arrangements. Can't wait to hear more (hopefully in concert!)

author: Ken SkeltonMicheal, I heard of you thru Ray Murray. I listened to 3 cuts and ordered the CD. The River I know is a great song. I also like the barbershop one...It's average people on the street. I love the musical backing...the resophonicdid a great job, and the fiddle. Good job all around...Be proud.

author: Greg HobbsA River I Know is a stunning debut from a killer performing songwriter. If you like Southern roots music, you should try it with a Northern twist. This is as good as it gets.
Laderoute has a John Prine feel to his music
author: Larry Delaney - Country Music NewsMichael Laderoute is a truly gifted songwriter and delivers his creations with a crusty, country/blues style that is more than effective.
