Album Notes

A unique combination of self taught guitar, candid lyrics, and exuberant melodies makes LadyBug one of the most refreshing indie artists emerging in music today. A large part of her dynamic musical influence comes from old Spanish ballads and the nostalgic rhythms of salsa music ingrained in her upbringing. This essence blended with the electric edges of punk rock and the impact of soulful vocal interpretation, is what gives the Bug her signature percussive essence as an acoustic performer.

LadyBug was born in Brooklyn, NY of Puerto Rican/Ecuadorian heritage and began studying piano at the age of five. She taught herself to play guitar by shaping inventive chords around her writings. While living in Miami, LadyBug formed the energetic industrial rock group, "bLANk", with drummer/producer Oscar Dorta and worked her way onto the stages of Miami's AT&T Bayside Musical Amphitheatre, the Hard Rock Cafe, and the legendary Churchill's Pub. She was voted "best female rock vocalist" by the Miami New Times and nominated "best female vocalist" at the South Florida Music Awards shortly after releasing the independent E.P. "Plug Me In".

After returning to her hometown of New York and collaborating with different musicians, LadyBug ultimately connected with punk/rock lead guitarist Josette, jazz bassist Phil Smith, and the innovative drummer, Jessie Torrisi to record her first full length independent record with Canadian co-producer and engineer, Chris Brown . The C.D. entitled "A Vein Inside a Quetzal's Daze", is filled with a bold presence of playful vocal textures and quirky progressions infectious with their combined skill and musical individuality. "A Vein Inside a Quetzal's Daze" is LadyBug's second release. She is now partenered with Big Wig Records and on her way to recording her third album, set for release in the spring of 2008.
