Born in New Jersey, Michael Anthony is a pianist, singer, violist, composer and lyricist now living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He fell in love with Brazil during the 1996 Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), while he was studying at the University of Music and Dramatic Art in Graz (Austria).

Later, came his enchantment for the voice of the Brazilian woman in the recordings of Astrud Gilberto as well as veneration for the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim.
He was seduced by Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), a celebration of simplicity, subtlety and purity; the voice of the soul, as he himself defines it. As a musician, composer and lyricist he rendered himself to the charms of Brazil. He soon learned Portuguese and began composing MPB.

This whole love affair with Brazilian music resulted in his first CD, “Sonho” (“Dream”). With placid songs, beautiful arrangements and a voice always in tune, this young American wishes to touch the hearts of Brazilians and become part of the new MPB generation.

Nascido em Nova Jersey (EUA), Michael Anthony é pianista, violista clássico, cantor, compositor e letrista. Ele se apaixonou pelo Brasil durante um Festival de Jazz na Suíça, época em que estudava na Universidade de Música e Artes Cênicas em Graz (Áustria).

Mais tarde veio o encantamento pela voz da mulher brasileira nas gravações de Astrud Gilberto assim como a veneração por Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Acabou fisgado pela MPB, uma celebração da simplicidade, da sutileza e da pureza; a voz da alma, como ele mesmo define. Como músico, compositor e letrista resolveu render-se aos feitiços do Brasil. Logo foi aprender português e estava compondo MPB.

Todo esse caso de amor com a música brasileira acabou gerando seu primeiro álbum “Sonho”. Com canções complacentes, belos arranjos e voz sempre afinada, esse jovem americano quer tocar no coração dos brasileiros e engrossar a nova geração da MPB.
