After two decades spent making music for grown-ups with groups like Ape, Farmgirl, the Swamis and the Badass Chickenbones, Lane Murchison started teaching music in San Francisco's private schools and realized there was a real shortage of fun, intelligent music for kids that didn't grate on parents' nerves.
On "Bulldozers & Bugs," Lane and fellow musician James Nash create music that's instantly accessible to kids without sacrificing musical style, playing instruments ranging from guitar and mandolin to bongos and aluminum cans. "Bulldozers & Bugs" is part of a new generation of children's music that's fun for kids and pleasing to adults. The album is a complete package, with well-crafted songs backed up by musical talent, superior showmanship and fun.
Lane's music features infectious, entertaining songs about kid-friendly topics like hugging bugs and driving heavy machinery. With clever lyrics, fun rhymes and a blend of original tunes, old favorites, forgotten classics and re-purposed rock songs, the music offers a variety and depth often absent in children's music.
Lane Murchison is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and commercial composer. He is in demand as a performer at children's events like the San Francisco Symphony's annual "Deck the Halls" gala, as well as at grown-up venues like the San Gregorio General Store and the Fillmore, as the main act and opening for musical greats like Bob Weir, Mick Taylor, Santana and surf legend Link Ray.
