Album Notes

I'm just an instrumentalist who writes lyrics every now and then. I like to experiment with the texture of tones and timbres and my heart has a passionate love for folk. I started learning how to play instruments in 2003 and am proud to say that I can play quite a few. Through the magic art of capturing sound known as recording, I've been able to layer instrument upon instrument to create what you hear. It's lo-fi sound but hi-fi effort.

"Heavy Hands" is my first collection of songs. I played all the instruments, recorded every song by myself, and mixed it as best I could. It doesn't sit within one, distinctive genre but it all unites under a strong, deeply emotive theme of expression. I experienced a lot of crazy events in one year and these songs are my way of understanding those situations better. I want to share them with you so perhaps you may experience something from them as well.

The album draws from a variety of influences. Artists include Wilco, Vetiver, Jon Brion, Jim O'Rourke, M. Ward, Devendra Banhart, Spoon, Electric Light Orchestra, Broken Social Scene, Kings of Leon, and The Flying Burrito Brothers.
