ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Being in a band is very much like a relationship. You've got to have a mutual respect, challenge and be challenged and above all else, have great communication. As all serious bands do, we've gone through changes and evolved as musicians over the years. We've had our share of opportunity and heartbreak, seen fans and team members come and go and had moments when we were sure as we walked off stage, that was our last show. But through it all we just kept playing, kept making music that we loved. Because in the end we know that the only reason anyone should ever be an artist in the first place is because they love it; as we always will.

In the Summer of 2011 we were approached by producer/engineer Dwight Baker to talk about tracking an E.P. in the Fall. We couldn't pass up the opportunity but, as most bands always are, we were flat broke. Being an indie band though has its perks. We knew that our fans were diehard and were not only willing to help but jumping at the chance. A Kickstarter campaign, a house party jam fund raiser, a video shoot and four weeks later, we had what we needed to record. It was incredible and a great testament to the foundation we've been a part of for the last five years.

And so, pre-production began. We spent a week choosing the songs, changing parts and tweeking melodies until they became a part of us. We wanted a sound that was really us, that wouldn't hide behind computer perfection. No doubled guitars, no tuned vocals, keep interesting sounding mistakes, etc. and that's just what we did. If we didn't all love something, we changed it. If someone had an idea, we tried it. if a lyric wasn't clear, we rewrote it. In fact, the lyrics to the first single, 'Open Air (All I Ever Got From Love)', weren't finished, even at the point when it was being tracked. Every word and note were scrutinized, then let go. We were challenged more than we had ever been before and it was worth it.

We don't know where we'll be in five years or even next year but we know we love making music that moves us and while there is always a moment when your art doesn't belong to you anymore, this E.P. was made completely for us and given to you.

Tasty morsel of awesome.
I came across Language Room when they released their first album (originally called 'One By One' then re-released as a self-titled album). I loved their stuff, both live and recorded...but the maturation in song writing displayed on this EP is just magnificent. Within four songs, the sound ranges from resplendent pop-rock ("Open Air" or "Kerosene") to moody bad-assery ("Skin", "Breachers"), but it all works together rather than being scattershot. It's a quick tasty morsel for your ears, and I can't wait to hear what comes out of this band in the near future.

Now please excuse me while I go listen to this EP for the millionth time.
