The Lanyap has evolved over the years to emerge as one of the best original rock bands in the Caribbean. Past incarnations include Diamond Jelly, Sativa and ProjectX.
The sound has changed slightly but the passion and intensity remain....the style is best described as 'South Caribbean Fusion'. The music is a uniqe blend of rock and reggae that is indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago.
The band never conciously decided on a style of music to play, they just play what they are....hence the reality of the music. Lanyap has never been stronger and with the new single, I Need You' the band has launched it's newest album 'God is Love'!

Caribbean people love to party..It is reflected in their music. The groovy reggae bass and driving calypso rhythms. Lanyap has taken this and added rock elements. Caribbean rock, reggae rock, Ska..call it what you will, this music is overflowing with passion. Considering this band is from Trinidad and Tobago, it's authentic as it gets. The singers raw vocals have that distinctively caribbean accent. He carries these songs with melodic confidence. The guitarist rips when he does his bit as well. Listening closely to this record you get the feeling that these guys have brought large body of influence into these songs. Everything from classic rock, alternative rock, blues, reggae, calypso and folk rock. There is also a spiritual undertone to the lyrics, which works well as the execution is uplifting. A superb record all round. Key tracks "Give Praise", "I Spy", "I Need You", "Go With The Flow", "Spiritual High". Anyone with an interest in music should grab a copy of this record. It will stay in your player for quite a while.

There are some reggea rock bands that seam to follow the same trend as sublime, But Lanyap has there own unique song and fuses reggea and rock perfectly. Perfect CD to listen all the way through when going to the beach or just being in the sun. Good lyrics and messages. Keep on keepin on guys.

Knows their music exactly

Many times you would listen to an album and something just wouldn't sound right. It either wouldn't have original songs or or only some of the songs would sounds right or if it does sound good, it sound exactly like another band. It would be one of those situations where the band just hasn't found exactly what it's good at going past inspiration into mimicry. Lanyap does not subscribe to any of these situations. They're original and their sound is mature. There are very few misses in this album. It's a strong sound that could have you headbanging just as quickly as it could be lulling you to dreamland. They shred with amazing guitar solos sitting alongside sweet melodic rhythms. They're overtly spiritual and it's music that draws strength from it. Truly a good album.
