Album Notes

Chaonda is the brainchild of Cuban Violinist virtuoso Gerardo Aguillon and the excellent Dominican Flutist Gerardo Pena. The concept for Herencia was to honor the great Charanga Bands of the past, among them La Orquesta Aragon and they have achieved an incredible sound and quality in this recording. If you like dancing to Cuban Rhythms, this CD is for you. Incredibly happy music to keep your spirits going.

Had Xavier Cugat, Orquesta Aragon, and others like them had the technology now available to orchestras like Chaonga, perhaps these rhythms would have enjoyed even greater popularity in their day, and remained so until now among non-Latinos.
