Overall Great With A Couple Of Weaknesses

Make no mistake, this is overall great and makes great christmas music for when you are entertaining guests at your home during the christmas season. I really like this cd and if they ever record another christmas cd, I most likely will be purchasing it. The weak aspect of it I mentioned in the title was that the cd doesn't carry the same general flow throughout and it might be a little distracting from the majority of the cd when you hit a song that changes the style a bit. A perfect example is "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" which isn't to bad either, but it definitely changes the mood the majority of the cd creates. "Baby It's Cold Outside" kinda does the same thing also, it changes the flow a bit but on it's own, still not a bad track. However, since the majority of the cd is strong to very strong, let's go to that..... The two opening songs, "Warm December" and "By The Fireside" are the best tracks on the cd. They completely create that christmas sound from yesteryear, a sound that you might hear on a recording of Julie London. The backing music is ultra warm and romantic, slow and peaceful, and the female vocalist sounds like a Julie London or some popular female singer out of the 1950's. I so, so wish they had kept this style throughout the whole cd. But don't worry, there are many other songs that are still very nice, like "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," "Winter Weather," and "Snowbound" to name a few. There are also a couple of instrumentals but nicely done such as "Let Heaven And Nature Sing" which appears to be a medley of christmas songs. All in all, folks, this is an awesome christmas cd done in a very vintage, traditional jazz/EZ listening style that you hardly ever hear these days and I have to recommend this very highly with a 5 star rating because I find myself putting this on often as it is very enjoyable. So, go ahead and try the sound samples and judge for yourself if this is something you would like for yourself, a gift to give, and/or for that backing christmas music whenever you have guests at your home during the holiday season.
