This simple song, written spontaneously one night, speaks to the hopes and dreams of children all over the world. The original, video version was made using a live looping pedal. The video, including photographs and footage of children in Africa, can be seen on Youtube.

Last year, I spent 8 weeks in Uganda and Tanzania, Africa. While there, I lived with local communities in rural villages to get a feel for what IS working with regard to wildlife conservation (my other passion), which is irrevocably linked to the peoples' health and well being.
I was deeply moved by the genuine, open-hearted nature of the people I met. By and large, they were the friendliest people I had ever come across. Many were children, as more than half the population of each of these countries is under the age of 15 years. Many can't afford to go to school, and for most there are no books, radios, and certainly no computers to learn from. And far, far too many have no homes or family left. In fact, more than 30 million children in subsaharan Africa are orphans. They have BIG hopes and dreams, but few opportunities to pursue them. Against the odds, some are finding the inner strength to move ahead with their dreams.
This simple song was written spontaneously one night after my return. It is a reflection of my hopes for the wonderful children that I met, and for all the children everywhere.
