Album Notes

Lara Lynn Cottrill is a classically trained soprano who graduated from the University of Miami in 2005. Originally from Beaver, PA, Lara enjoyed her undergraduate studies at UM, although she will attend graduate school in Rochester, NY at the Eastman School of Music.
As a performance major, Lara has had much experience on the stage. Her operatic roles include Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Manon in Massenet's Act 1, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. Lara thoroughly enjoys singing recitals as well. She has given many recitals for her communities in PA and in FL, besides the required recitals for her undergraduate work.
To further her understanding of language and music, Lara traveled to Salzburg, Austria, through the University of Miami Frost School of Music, for the summers of 2003 and 2004. In 2004, she was an honorable mention in the Salzburg Program Competition and sang in the honorary concert.
Outside of her scholastic and performance achievements, Lara values time given to her community. She was a youth group leader at her church in Miami. She was also a member of the choir there. Believing music can have a positive effect on society, Lara gives free concerts to her community so that anyone can share her love of music with her. In May 2005, she gave a recital to raise money for South Florida Urban Ministries and recorded a CD to sell so that 20% of the profit is donated to this organization. Also, she returns to her high school periodically to speak with her former high school choir and give encouragement to future musicians.
Lara looks forward to even more learning and performance time in her graduate studies. Her love for music and performing motivate her to continue her high levels of professionalism in her art.
