Album Notes

It was the late-great pianist and arranger George Gaffney who told Larkin she should make an album. She decided to make an album of obscure sexy jazz standards. A magical 100% synchronicity happened when someone gave her Producer Kenny Lyon's telephone number.

Larkin and Kenny met up in a bar in K-Town (Korea Town) across the street from the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. An area where jazz clubs once thrived. Kenny bought Larkin a tomato juice and the rest is history. They have been working together ever since. Larkin and Kenny also made an album with all original songs called "X-rated Musical"

Kenny Lyon, is a talented guitar/bass player. He was born in Miami and reared in Zaire and Seville, Spain. His playing career progressed from cruise ships and clubs to recording and touring with numerous bands. Currently he is with Brazzaville and Los Super Elegantes. He has also played with Jann Arden, David Baerwald, Mark Curry, and The Divinyls. He was involved making the Lemonheads CD, "Car Button Cloth," and survived the yearlong global tour to support it. In addition to playing, producing (Mark Curry, El Hefe) and recording, Lyon also writes novels, screenplays, essays and short fiction.

Danny Frankel on Drums/Percussion. Danny Frankel hails from Washington D.C. He studied with jazz legend Paul Motian, Mike Pacheco (Bongo Date '58) and Cassio. He's played with Brazzaville, Lou Reed, Jewel, Urban Verbs and The Flying Karamozov Brothers, for whom he memorized the percussion to Stravinsky's "L'Histoire du Soldat" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. His selected discography includes Lou Reed, Marianne Faithful, Fiona Apple, Luscious Jackson, Madeleine Peyroux, Steven Bernstein (Hollywood Diaspora), and Micheal Penn. Also, his own record on W.I.N., "New Thing On Jupiter." Danny is credited in a new book about bongos by Trevor Salloum. Currently, he's been on a world tour with K.D. Lang and he plays with Dakah hip hop orchestra.

Along the way he has also recorded and/or toured with the esteemed and varied likes of Macy Gray, Ben Harper, Ziggy Marley, Natalie Merchant, Ozomotli, Action Figure Party, Smokey Hormel's Henri, Jude, Boom Shaka, Ras Michael, Brazzaville and Cambodian rock band Dengue Fever.

A delightful little CD that is absolutely worth getting. 8 gems of perfect bossa nova, beautifully played with sweetly sexy, teasing vocals. A real treasure that leaves you wanting more and more. This album is right up there with Frank Sinatra's collaboration with Antonio Carlos Jobim. And, yes, it's an ideal choice to have sex to!
