Larry and the Bluescasters is a Massachusetts-based
blues band. The band's general goal is to play in
the older style (drawing inspiration from the blues
of the 1930s through 1960s), with a modern sound
(i.e., functioning equipment!). We probably didn't
dig QUITE that far back during these sessions, but
hey, the spirit is there!
This CD presents nine original tunes...oh, and a
nice picture of Larry's guitar on the cover...
We risked life and limb making this CD (the producer's
dog ferociously guarded the hallway to the bathroom).
All we ask is that you give it a listen...well,
and maybe buy one...or a dozen...everyone
needs coasters!

“The Hopping Beat” Yet another group based in Boston, a place teeming with them. Can there possibly be more? And, of course, like the others, this is a really cool one that is being served up to us, but that's not very surprising. Considering the competition, it can't be easy to get up on stage there, unless you can ensure a hefty beat. And here is a case in point. Larry and his pals have been singing the blues together since the summer of 1999, and navigate the waters of the traditional Chicago Blues from the 1930s-1960s inspired by such artists as Junior Wells, Muddy Waters and Magic Sam. On this CD, they have recorded nine original songs by Larry Lusignan (guitar and vocals) and Martin Fioretti (bass, harmonica), nine titles always on the move, nine titles that shake you up, nine titles with a driving drum beat, by five talented musicians, good at their art form, linked like five fingers to the hand of guitarist singer Larry Lusignan’s pure and incisive style, with its rich hot sound, solos that give you chills, and his equally good singing, leaving room for the crystalline scintillations of the piano and for the sounds of Michael McIver’s B3, or the ripping of Brad Kohl’s sax. These soloists are surrounded by the heavy rhythm and confident bass of Martin Fioretti (bass, harmonica) and Glenn Rogers (drums). This first CD is a winner and one that will call for more...to be continued! Buy at www.cdbaby.com
