Larry Morrow is a native-born singer, songwriter and musician from Houston, Texas. Among Larry's influences are the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, Muddy Waters and Hank Williams.
When you are listening to Quintessence you are listening to World Music. Music which uses distinctive ethnic scales, modes and musical inflections, and which is usually performed on or accompanied by distinctive traditional ethnic instruments.
In physics, quintessence is a hypothetical form of energy postulated to exist as a possible explanation of observations of an accelerating universe. It is used in particle physics.
In ancient and medieval natural philosophy, quintessence, meaning "fifth element", was another term for aether; it is the substance of which the heavenly bodies were supposed to be composed.
The concept of a life-energy inherent in all living beings seems to be a fairly universal archetype, and appears in numerous ancient religions and systems of metaphysics.
Imagery selected for this Album is an attempt to visualize the fifth element, that invisible substance of which heavenly bodies are composed. It seemed the best approach was to use images of heavenly bodies that are still forming. Perhaps in there could be seen that quintessential root of all music.
On Quintessence there are ten songs with five distinct styles of music. Ethnic styles with their deep roots have always been one of Larry's passion.
Hey Lu Lu and the Mating Dance are Caribbean tunes inspired by bamboo trees, white sands and emerald blue oceans.
Cumbia Para Marisa and Mi Pareja are two traditional types of Latin American dances.
Once I heard An Angel and Lover Whipoorwill And The Pine are Country. Once I heard An Angel is progressive and upbeat while Lover Whippoorwill is a ballad with a story.
No Advice Is Good rocks you while Window Blues Takes you down home.
Stephanie and I Will Always Be There For You are love songs from the heart.

I feel like I've known him all of my life.

I feel like I've known him all of my life. Larry's music flows from soft ballads to Caribbean sounds. Better than Jimmy Buffett!
