Album Notes

Larry Ravenswood is a singer/songwriter of the Pop/Easy Listening/Adult Contemporary (and a little Alt.rock) genre who combines acoustic guitar, beat sounds, and then mixing it all with lush melodies, vibrant vocals and songwriting, resulting in a hypnotic pop experience both live and in recording.. and all of this while presenting an acoustic guitar as his lead instrument. His music has been described by others as loving, moody, trippy and romantic, and insists on staying within his own uniqueness.Larry draws on many influences past and present (U2,David Bowie,REM,Moody Blues,David Gray,Dido,Dave Matthews,John Mayer,Bjork..the list is endless). When all is said, he takes on a very "Euro" pop approach to his music, though acknowledging many American artists as partly influential as well. His new release is entitled "Million Miles from Zen"(full length) of which draws upon life experiences of relationships, one song(Lurlean) about childhood and another(Mars)about the possibilities beyond the far reaches of the Earth. Larry cites the title track and other tracks "Beautiful Sunday"(optimism, despite negativism),"Threshold"(just a loving, sexy song about..)"Elliott Skies"(about Elliott Smith), and "Everybody Needs"(lost heart longing for reaffirmation) as his best. Larry has performed at many venues throughout the USA (MN State Fair, parks, coffeehouses, winebars, clubs,Expos, etc.) Among other items of interest is an alternate recording project called “dARA”, and a "self made" radio program to be hopefully aired in the future!

Larry Ravenswood writes lush, moody tunes that scale back nicely in a solo-acoustic setting.. AV Madison “The Onion”
