Inspiration comes in many forms. All of these pieces were written while onboard a cruise ship sailing to many far reaching ports of call.
"Pianos were always available," Larry recalls, "even moreso than space to practice my horn. So I never bothered anyone if I needed to compose at 2 and 3AM."
"As a composer I experience many possibilities that often carry me away from my main performance voice."(the trumpet) "Guitar happens to be my second instrument although composing on guitar is no more or less difficult for me than composing on piano. I think I use the same parts of the brain for either. Sometimes I even write on my horn." lol
Mood for Guitar#3 & Suite in Four Rooms were both inspired by the apartment in Italy where Larry lived between 1996-98.
Each movement is named for a different room in the house.
Hey some folks write about love and stuff like that, some write profound thoughts on life and living - I wrote about an apartment."
