Album Notes

Rick is an acoustic bassist, guitarist, and songwriter who has lent his musical support to many artists - Ida, the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and Lisa Loeb to name a few. His first solo CD, "Songs for the Unconsoled" shows his sensitivity as a songwriter and arranger and features some fine playing by musicians such as Frank Corby - clarinet and tenor saxophone, Jan Johannson - mandolin and fiddle, Ed Butler - drums, Diana Simpson - vocals, Joan Beck - violin, Dwayne Gay - drums, Bernie Petteway - acoustic and electric guitar and dobro, and Matt Lamar - acoustic guitar.

the crystalline vocals, eloquently simple arrangements and evocative songwriting all come together beautifully in this hauntingly sad CD. It's gorgeous, and I recommend it even if you aren't mourning a lost love.
